Job Responsibilities

  • As a social media manager, you will design and implement comprehensive social media strategies that align with overall business objectives and the brand’s distinctive voice.
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging content, including posts, images, videos, and campaigns, tailored for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
  • Manage content calendars, ensuring timely and consistent publication across all channels.
  • Optimise content using data-driven insights and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement rates, impressions, and conversion metrics via tools like Google Analytics, Sprout Social, and native platform insights.
  • Oversee and optimise paid social media advertising campaigns, managing budgets effectively whilst ensuring cost-efficient outcomes.
  • Engage actively with online communities by responding to comments, messages, and reviews in a professional and personable manner.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, copywriters, and cross-functional teams to produce cohesive multimedia campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Conduct regular competitor and trend analyses to stay at the forefront of emerging social media tools, platform algorithm changes, and consumer behaviours.
  • Utilise social listening tools to monitor brand sentiment and identify opportunities for content improvement or crisis management.
  • Manage crisis communications and protect the brand’s online reputation through timely intervention and strategic messaging.

Qualifications

  • As a social media manager, it is desirable that you have a minimum of 1 year of proven experience in managing social media accounts for brands, agencies, or organisations, preferably in a remote setting.
  • Demonstrable expertise in developing creative social media strategies and executing tailored campaigns that drive measurable results.
  • Strong command of content creation technologies, including proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and CapCut.
  • Experience with social media scheduling and analytics platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, and Later, coupled with an ability to interpret performance data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for storytelling and crafting compelling, brand-consistent messages.
  • A creative mindset with the capacity to think innovatively, adapt rapidly to evolving digital trends, and generate fresh ideas to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with paid social media campaign management, including audience targeting and budget oversight.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, ensuring efficient juggling of multiple projects and deadlines.

Education & Certifications

  • Social media manager candidates are expected to have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business, or a related discipline is desirable, though relevant practical experience may be considered as a substitute.
  • Professional certifications in social media or digital marketing are highly beneficial. Examples include:
    – Meta Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate
    – HubSpot Social Media Strategy Certification
    – Google Analytics Certification
  • Commitment to continuous professional development is encouraged, such as participation in industry webinars, workshops, or online courses that update one’s skills in emerging social media platforms and digital marketing trends.

Additional Job Requirements

  • As a social media manager, you must demonstrate excellent written and spoken English to ensure clear communication and professional deliverables.
  • Applicants must be self‐employed or registered as a sole trader, capable of operating independently and managing their own tax and National Insurance responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide fully compliant professional invoices for services rendered, including all statutory details such as business name, address, unique invoice number and due date.
  • Willingness to enter into a written contract that clearly outlines the project scope, payment terms and intellectual property rights.
  • Must adhere to all relevant UK regulations for self‐employed professionals, including conformity with IR35 where applicable.
