Job Responsibilities

  • As an SEO expert, you are expected to conduct comprehensive website audits to identify and resolve technical issues such as broken links, slow page loading, and mobile optimisation deficiencies, ensuring that the site meets the latest search engine standards.
  • Develop and implement both on‐page and off‐page SEO strategies to boost organic search rankings and drive high‐quality traffic. This includes optimising meta tags, headers, and image alt text, while also developing outreach and backlink campaigns.
  • Utilise advanced SEO tools (for example, Google Analytics 4, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog) to monitor site performance, interpret data, and derive actionable insights that inform continual strategy refinement.
  • SEO experts also collaborate closely with content creators, web developers, and digital marketing teams to ensure that all online assets are optimised for user experience and search visibility, while also aligning with the company’s overall digital strategy.
  • Execute ethical link‐building initiatives and manage backlink profiles, ensuring that harmful or toxic links are identified and disavowed to maintain a strong domain authority.
  • It is desirable that, as an SEEO expert, you stay up to date with the latest algorithm updates and industry trends, including developments in AI-driven optimisation techniques, voice search, and multimodal search, to proactively adjust strategies in line with evolving best practices.
  • Analytics and reporting: Google Analytics 4, Data Studio, and other data visualisation tools
  • Familiarity with AI-driven content tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper) for content ideation and optimisation
  • Prepare and present detailed, data‐driven reports for key stakeholders that track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as click‐through rates, bounce rates, conversion rates, and overall organic growth.
  • Optimise content for local and voice search by maintaining current and accurate Google Business Profiles and implementing structured data where appropriate.
  • Support e-commerce SEO initiatives by enhancing product pages and ensuring optimised user journeys for improved conversion, particularly for mobile and remote audiences.

Qualifications

  • To apply as an SEO expert, candidates should have proven experience (minimum one year) in an SEO or digital marketing role, with a preference for candidates who have successfully managed remote or agency-based projects.
  • Demonstrable technical proficiency in SEO, including a solid understanding of Core Web Vitals, mobile-first indexing, schema markup, and website architecture optimisation.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the capability to interpret complex datasets from tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, and Ahrefs, translating insights into effective strategic recommendations.
  • Strong grasp of AI-assisted SEO methodologies, with practical experience using AI-driven tools for keyword research, content optimisation, and performance analysis.
  • Clear understanding of content optimisation principles, including adherence to Google’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) guidelines, ensuring high-quality, user-centric content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary remote teams and the presentation of SEO strategies and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and self-motivated; with exceptional time management skills to reliably manage multiple concurrent projects within tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability and the willingness to continuously learn and incorporate emerging SEO trends and technologies into daily practice.

Education & Certifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, although relevant practical experience may be considered in its stead.
  • Professional certifications in SEO or digital marketing, such as the Google Analytics Individual Qualification, HubSpot SEO Certification, or SEMrush SEO Toolkit Certification, are highly desirable.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, including attendance at industry conferences, workshops, and completion of advanced courses in digital marketing and SEO, will be viewed favourably.

Additional Job Requirements

  • SEO expert candidates must demonstrate excellent written and spoken English to ensure clear communication and professional deliverables.
  • Applicants must be self‐employed or registered as a sole trader, capable of operating independently and managing their own tax and National Insurance responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide fully compliant professional invoices for services rendered, including all statutory details such as business name, address, unique invoice number and due date.
  • Willingness to enter into a written contract that clearly outlines the project scope, payment terms and intellectual property rights.
  • Must adhere to all relevant UK regulations for self‐employed professionals, including conformity with IR35 where applicable.
