Job Responsibilities

  • As a graphic designer, you will develop creative concepts and deliver high-quality visual designs for digital and print media, including branding, marketing materials, and social content.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and development teams to ensure cohesive brand messaging and user experience.
  • Produce engaging motion graphics, animations, and interactive assets for web, social media, and video platforms.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user interface elements for websites and mobile applications, ensuring accessibility and usability.
  • Adapt and refine existing designs based on feedback from stakeholders and user testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design trends, tools, and best practices, integrating innovative techniques into projects.
  • Prepare artwork for print production, ensuring files meet technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail throughout the design process.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand guidelines and visual identity systems.
  • As part of our team of graphic designers, you will participate in brainstorming sessions and present creative ideas to clients or internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (minimum two years) in graphic design, demonstrated by a strong portfolio of completed projects across various media.
  • As a graphic designer, it is desirable that you have Proficiency in industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), WonderShare Filmora, and Canva.
  • Solid understanding of typography, colour theory, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience with motion graphics and animation tools such as After Effects or similar software.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and accessibility standards for digital design.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts clearly.
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Adaptability to evolving design trends, technologies, and client requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Education & Certifications

  • Candidates applying for the graphic designer position at SiteSketchers are encouraged to hold a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Art and Design, or a related field.
  • Foundation degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in a design discipline is acceptable.
  • A well-curated portfolio showcasing creative work and technical skills is essential.
  • Certifications in Adobe Creative Cloud, UX/UI design, or motion graphics are advantageous.
  • Membership of professional bodies such as the Chartered Society of Designers or the International Society of Typographical Designers is beneficial.
  • Ongoing professional development through workshops, online courses, or industry events is encouraged.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and spoken English to ensure clear communication and professional deliverables.
  • Applicants must be self‐employed or registered as a sole trader, capable of operating independently and managing their own tax and National Insurance responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide fully compliant professional invoices for services rendered, including all statutory details such as business name, address, unique invoice number and due date.
  • Willingness to enter into a written contract that clearly outlines the project scope, payment terms and intellectual property rights.
  • Must adhere to all relevant UK regulations for self‐employed professionals, including conformity with IR35 where applicable.
